Heritage Walk Route 1 List
Jama (Jumma) Masjid
Manek Chowk
Iconic central square — triple-role market: vegetables in the morning, bullion/jewellery midday, huge street-food night market after sunset. Lined by historic buildings and close to many tombs and mosques.
Manek Baba’s Mandir
Small memorial/temple for Baba Maneknath (legendary saint associated with Ahmedabad’s founding); linked to local folklore about the city’s foundation. Manek Chowk area has multiple references to him.
Fernandez (Fernandes) Bridge & Book Market
Historic colonial-era bridge location; today under/around it is the old book market (Chopda/fernandes book stalls) — a favourite for second-hand books and street commerce.
Zaveri Vad
Traditional jewellery lane/cluster (Zaveri = goldsmith/jeweller) — an active market showing commercial life around pols. Good for observing trades and shopfront havelis.
Shantinathji Mandir
Prominent Jain derasar located within a pol — richly carved interiors and active worship. A significant example of the religious diversity inside the old city.
Haja Patel ni Pol
One of the well-preserved pol neighborhoods — narrow lanes, wooden brackets, decorative chabutras. Often highlights the conservation challenges and pol society.

Swaminarayan Temple, Kalupur
The first Swaminarayan temple (Kalupur) — ornate late-19th-century Vaishnav mandir with carved teak pillars, colourful facades and a small museum/assembly area. It’s the usual start point for Ahmedabad’s “Mandir → Masjid” heritage walk.

Kavi Dalpatram Chowk (Lambeshwar ni Pol)
Small public chowk in Lambeshwar ni Pol with a sitting statue/memorial for Kavi Dalpatram (19th-c. Gujarati poet) and surrounding traditional pol houses. Good spot for noticing pol-life and carved facades.

Lambeshwar ni Pol
Classic old-city pol with narrow lanes, chabutras (bird-feeders), carved havelis and living heritage. A great place to experience vernacular architecture and community life.

Calico Dome
A 16th-century cathedral with stunning stained glass windows and intricate carvings.

Kala Ramji Mandir
A small, old temple tucked inside a pol — notable for a rare seated Rama idol (“Kala Ramji”) and local architectural value. Often included as a stop to illustrate sacred spaces within pols.
